Just steps away from the scenic Kuskokwim River, the Riverside Refuge bed and breakfast rests on property originally owned by the Moravian mission society. Dating back to the late 1800’s, the Moravian church has a long and rich history in the establishment of Bethel and ministry in the Delta. Owner, Rebecca Contreras, also comes from a ministry family with a continued presence in the area. Rebecca was born and raised in the village Upper Kalskag located approximately 100 river miles north of Bethel. Wherever she has lived, a large part of Rebecca’s heart remains on the Kuskokwim. Her vision is to provide a clean and restful lodging for visitors and business travelers or a private meeting space for small groups and ministry teams. As a way of honoring the heritage of Christian outreach in the region, a portion of Riverside Refuge proceeds are sewn back into ministry activities.
